Official F1 Magazine commission

It was revealing in a feature within issue 8 of the Official F1 Magazine that David Johnson had been commissioned to create a palette knife painting of each 2020 F1 team’s car. This also focuses on some of David’s career highlights and passion for the sport.

The paintings are to feature as limited edition covers for issue 10 of the magazine. 

Giclee prints of these are available and limited to just 100 for each design.

New Arrival: Mario Andretti print signing

It is a great honour that Mario Andretti recently signed a run of limited edition giclee prints at his home in Nazareth, USA. The print celebrates his and the Lotus Team’s 1978World Championship winning season.

This has been released as a Driver signed edition and an artist signed edition within a limited run of just 150 giclee prints.


New Arrival: George Russell print and canvas signing

With pre-season preparations underway, George Russell found time out of his busy schedule to sign a limited run of prints and canvases at the Williams F1 factory.


It was a wonderful experience that was made even sweeter when sharing a photograph with George, artwork and the Williams FW48.

The Driver Signed Edition is available as a giclée and embellished canvas.

David Johnson was in attendance of this year's MotoGP where he held his latest exhibition. Featuring new releases, exclusive show offer and David live painting.

This year's live-painting celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Valentino Rossi winning the MotoGP World Championship.

At this year's Silverstone Classic David Johnson held an exhibition in the BRDC alongside live-painting.

This saw a range of new to print editions and near-sell-out classics. Throughout the event David was working to completion a painting of Lewis Hamilton for Toto Wolf.

"It was such a joy to have my artwork on display within such a prestigious buidling that I have looked over many times as a fan at the British Grand Prix and captured on canvas over the year's.

On the week of the British Grand Prix David Johnson was back at the Grand Prix Ball live painting alongside the red carpet. Here he was also interviewed for the Finnish F1 Channel for a TV feature.

On the night the original palette knife painting created of Michael Schumacher was auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Pince's Trust.


Located in the Becketts Street Zone over the British Grand Prix David held his largest art exhibition to date, with 24 framed works on display. Alongside this he was also live painting a canvas for Toto Wolf of Lewis Hamilton from his 2019 Monaco Grand Prix featuring the Niki Lauda Halo tribute. David was also on hand to sign fliyers and have a chat.

The exhibition also included new releases and special Driver Signed Editions.

On the Saturday of Qualifying at Stowe School, a Mercedes event hosted the work of David Johnson's Mercedes F1 creations with David live painting in the evening.

New Arrival: Lando Norris print and canvas signing

Lando Norris joined Formula Art's Driver Signed Editions after signing a limited run of prints and framed embellished canvases.

A very proud moment for David Johnson as he made his way to the McLaren Motorhome in the F1 Paddock for the signing.

Lando also retained the original painting.


New Arrival: Kimi Raikkonen print signing

During the British Grand Prix weekend 2007 Champion Kimi Raikkonen signed a limited run of giclee prints.

This has been released as a Driver signed edition and an artist signed edition within a limited run of just 150 giclee prints.


The original painting was created by David Johnson using just a palette knife to recreate his unique style capturing the Formula One legend. The image shows immense detail within the powerful and dramatic pose.

New Arrivals: Carl Fogarty print signing

Four times World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty added his name to Formula Art's prestigious Driver Signed Editions. Carl took the time at his home to sign limited runs of the new giclee, sketch print and embellished canvases.

The original is now proudly displayed in the Fogarty household, which David Johnson was honoured to hand over to the motorbike legend.

Events: Bicester Heritage - Sunday Scramble Jan 2019

David was on hand to meet and greet the crowds as well as live paint with his palette knife his latest painting of Lewis Hamilton 2018 F1 World Champion.

On display at Bicester Heritage's first Sunday Scramble of the year was an exhibition of David Johnson's latest artwork. This featured first edition exclusives, original sketches, paintings and end of stock rarities.


Events: Carl Fogarty Q&A evening

On Thursday 22nd November 2018 an exhibition featuring David Johnson's latest work was on display at the Carl Fogarty live Q&A in Resort World's  Sports Bar.

Carl Fogarty, the most successful Superbike Champion of all time. He was also crowned ‘King of the Jungle’ in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here in 2014.

The event also saw David Johnson live paint alongside Carl and his newly launched CCM motorcycle

Events: Royal Automobile Club exhibition

This year marks the 4th year that the Royal Automobile Club has staged the Art of Motoring exhibition. Selected to feature within this year's selection is the artwork of David Johnson.

This forms part of the London Motor Week events calendar which draws in members from accross the country and internationally.


The exhibition will take place from Monday 29th October 2018 to Saturday 4th November 2018.

David Johnson is proud to present his latest release depicting Nigel Mansell and his Championship winning  car. Created using just a pallete knife with his trademark attention to detail.

This has been released as an artist signed edition as a limited run of just 150 giclee prints.

New Arrivals: Sir Jackie Stewart print signing

Sir Jackie Stewart was once again on hand to sign a limited run of prints of newly released 3-Time  Champion Giclee Print. 

This has been released as a Driver signed edition and an artist signed edition within a limited run of just 150 giclee prints.

The painting has been created by David Johnson has used just a palette knife to recreate his unique style capturing the Formula One legend. This was awarded to Sir Jackie Stewartnand will be later auctioned to help raise funds and awareness for his Charity, Race Against Dementia.
